Facts
Facts are the solid stuff. Numbers, proof, specifics, outcomes, anything that makes you go, “oh that’s actually pretty interesting.” They give your message weight and help build trust. It shows you’re not just throwing ideas around, there’s something real behind it. But if it’s all facts, it can feel a bit dry, aye. Not everyone connects through data, some people need to feel something before they’re in.
Feelings
This is where things get a bit more human. Feelings are the relatable bits, emotion, identity, hope, belonging, even the awkward stuff like doubt or insecurity. It’s the part where someone reads or hears something and goes, “yep, that’s me.”
That’s what creates connection. It helps people see themselves in what you’re saying. But if it’s all feelings with nothing solid underneath, it can drift a bit. It starts to feel a bit fluffy, or hard to fully trust.
Fun
Fun’s the one that often gets overlooked. A bit of playfulness, humour, a cheeky line, something unexpected. The stuff that makes people smile, maybe share it, or remember it later when they’re grabbing a coffee.
Fun is what makes things stick. But if it’s all fun and no substance, it fades just as quickly as it landed.
Truth is, most of us aren’t wired just one way, we’re a mix. Some lean towards facts, some towards feelings, some just want something that lifts their day a bit. If you’re only speaking one of those languages, you’re missing people.
But when you bring all three together, something clicks. You catch attention with something interesting, you connect through something meaningful, and you make it stick with a bit of personality. That’s when communication starts to land wider and hang around longer.
So whether you love social media or you’re still a bit sceptical of it, this has been a handy little filter. Before you post, write, or share anything, just ask yourself, where are the facts, where are the feelings, where’s the fun.
Get those three working together, and you’re not just putting content out there, you’re actually communicating.
